Open Call for Pool of Thematic Experts

The Goethe-Institut Lithuania is recruiting thematic experts for work in the EU-funded project MOST IV (EU4Belarus: Mobility Scheme for Targeted People-to-People Contacts IV) specialized in one of the six MOST IV professional sectors (hereafter “MOST IV sector(s)”):

  1. Society (civil society, human rights, media)
  2. Culture (cultural and creative industries, tourism)
  3. Business (SME, innovative businesses, IT)
  4. Education (non-formal, non-academic education, lifelong learning)
  5. Health and care (care professions and medicine)
  6. Sustainability (i.a. organic culture, environmental protection, sustainable energy management)

Tasks

  • Assess the submitted applications for mobilities within maximum 14 days (according to pre-defined criteria and a scoring grid);
  • Provide matchmaking services, i.e. written consultations for potential applicants to a MOST IV mobility, addressing their written queries and providing advice on how to identify one or several EU-partners, designing an activity plan for a mobility, defining objectives for a mobility, etc.;
  • Contribute to the preparation of events or activities within the framework of MOST IV, in association with the MOST IV Team;
  • Contribute to the development of an alumni community, the promotion of MOST IV, and other activities within the workplan of MOST IV, at the invitation of the MOST IV Team;
  • To be available throughout the project’s duration and on stand-by within a two weeks’ notice.

Profile of the experts

  • University degree (or proven comparable experience)
  • Minimum of 10 years of general professional experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in a MOST IV sector, in Belarus and/or in a country where the Belarusian diaspora is mainly established
  • Networking capacities in a MOST IV sector
  • Fluency in English, Belarusian and Russian
  • Experience in evaluating project proposals
  • Professional experience in planning and implementing international exchange projects is an asset
  • Professional experience in identifying suitable partners and counterparts in the EU is an asset
  • Experience in content-writing and in lecturing on subjects within a MOST IV sector
  • Positive references, professional recognition by the Belarusian community, in a MOST IV sector
  • Ability to work independently, unbiased and with respect to deadlines.

Remuneration

The expert will receive compensation based on fixed set of prices for different services (evaluating applications, match making etc.) according to the actual services provided. The volume of services to be provided may vary depending on the number of submitted applications in the relevant MOST IV sector and the specific project phase.

Background

MOST IV will pre-select at least 18 thematic expert candidates, not less than three per MOST IV sector. The identity of the thematic expert will be kept confidential and the identity, visual and voice identity, author’s name of any work product delivered by the thematic experts for MOST IV, will not be disclosed without the prior written agreement of the thematic expert.

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. At the heart of our work are the relationships we create. In Lithuania, in addition to our cooperation with Lithuanian partners, we place an emphasis on working with Belarusian partners. In our cultural work, we focus on dealing with current issues relating to pluralistic societies and democratic participation using cultural means and from a contemporary, artistic perspective.

The project MOST IV contributes to enhancing the resilience of Belarusian society and to foster cultural relations. The project supports Belarusian professionals – based in Belarus and abroad – in improving their professional competences and opportunities for the future. The core activity is a mobility scheme facilitating professional contacts between Belarusian and EU-based professionals and organizations. Interested Belarusian receive the possibility to get funding for travel and accommodation abroad and are supported in finding a first professional contact in the EU. The program works with the following priority sectors: culture, society, education, business, health & care and sustainability.

The expert will work for the Goethe-Institut as a self-employed freelancer. The expert shall conduct all preparation, research, and online work from their home base and must treat all information obtained during the assignment as confidential.
